2014 has Arrived: Vogue Early Spring Release
What better sign is there than the release of the Spring patterns? My favorites:
Vogue 1381 from Chado Ralph Rucci:
The silhouette is very reminiscent of Vogue 1317, definitely an advanced pattern if you’re going to do all this quilting, though I suppose you don’t have to…
I really like the look but I’m afraid of wardrobe malfunction, what with the slit going open, plus the whole front seems to close only with snaps? And the petites mains at Vogue seem to have had difficulties with the easing of the sleeves. So it’s a careful “like” for this one. Also, a big fabric eater since cut on the bias but probably that much comfortable to wear.
I especially love the skirt. You know you’ve got a truly DonnaKaran pattern when it reads “no side seams” (here on the skirt and top). I’m really curious about the “applied lapels” on the jacket too.
Love the french darts but would ditch the patch pockets for in-seam ones.
Vogue 1387 from Rebecca Taylor:
Simply lovely.
Vogue 1385, Today’s fit by Sandra Betzina:
I like the neckline pleats but I have a fear of this garment looking too matronly when made up, though I can’t put my finger on the reason why…
A classical yet versatile pattern.
Now for the rest:
Looks to me like the skirt pendant to Vogue 8955, though I can’t picture a non-formal version of this one, at least not in floor length.
DKNY’s younger take on the so successful Burberry skirt.
Nice, but I feel like I expect more from a designer’s pattern. But really, there’s nothing wrong with this pattern.
What is this? Is it resort? Help me out on this one, please.
What’s do you say about this collection?
The only what really is making me feel good about this collection is the name – SPRING!
You have seen the same things as myself – a lot of repetitions with small changes – quilting there, differnent fabric here… well, I am not thrilled with this collection and I am not going to invest in any pattern this time.

Some nice styles here , but I really can’t justify buying any more patterns at Vogue overseas prices and shipping.

I agree, the prices are interesting when they go on sale but the shipping is just so expensive!

Not really anything special but I do like the DKNY suit pattern; looks interesting. And the last blue dress – it has a ‘semi-fitted, attached camisole with straps’. I was so intrigued (dumbfounded) as to why you would design such a large ugly armhole (on a nice enough looking dress) I had to look it up in the description.

I was uninterested in any of the designs. I feel while some are nice, I already own pretty button up shirt patterns and one of Donna Karen’s complicated pencil skirts. I’m going to spend my time and money on those rather than buying similar patterns. Let us know how those attached lapels work! I am very curious!

I think the lapels are either stitched down or appliqués.

LG,
Katrin
