Willemientje Concluded

This is the only sewing that happened in July and since. DM started school (well, actually pre-school but since it’s on the school campus, she goes to school, right?) in August. On that occasion,as is tradition here, she needed a schultüte. A schultüte is a large cornet of cardboard decorated and filled with sweets and little presents given to children in Germany on their first day at school. The decorations can be bought or hand-made. Now there was no way I was going to get her a bought one! But I didn’t have the energy to make her a new dress. So what I did is add the ruffles to her still fitting and hardly worn Willemientje and used the remnants to make an assorted schultüte according to the Farbenmix E-book. And for the decoration, I was inspired by Kathleen’s Disney princess-inspired ribbon tutorials (which she started publishing just a week before the event, like a gift from the Providence) to make and stick a mini-DM on it. DM was delighted:
