More Drape – Pattern Magic Dress

February 8, 2012

I stumbled upon this dress from S’NOB in an internet shop a few weeks ago:

It made me think of this dress from Pattern Magic 3, only with a cowl neck:

And this is the first try:

And I discovered that you can also kind of pull the tip of the drape to the inside, making it look like this:

The back is very simple:

Pics of the dress worn as soon as possible. I’ll possibly have another go at it in a solid fabric and with a cowl neck. As is the case in all the Pattern Magic books, there are no sewing instructions, you have to figure it out all by yourself, but this is simple enough. If you’re interested in seeing mor designs of this book made up, visit the blog of the talented and prolific Carolyn, or have a look at the Japan Couture Addicts.

I really like that. I think the stripes bring out the shape very well. Can’t wait to see it on!

Great – well done! I’ve only made one Pattern Magic thing… the ideas fascinate me but many of them look like they would take a lot of planning.

Hello Gabrielle! Not all the Pattern magic patterns require a lot of planning. And the drafting is fun. You should give them a try! Ghainsom
